20 Fat Busting Tips – Tip 14 – Wholegrain Bread and Olive Oil

This one I owe to Dr Oz from the Oprah Show…

Dr Oz recommended, have a slice of wholegrain bread dipped in olive oil 10 minutes before meals. It’s full of nutrients and gives you a feeling of fullness over a period of time which will reduce your hunger and allow you to reduce portion sizes.

Tips:

  • Organic wholegrain bread is best
  • Choose extra virgin olive oil
  • Limit yourself to one slice
  • Eat it 10 minutes before mealtime to give time for the “fullness” message to be relayed to your brain.
  • Actually reduce the portion size of your meal!

It’s good for your health and your wallet.

20 Fat Busting Tips – Tip 13 – Strip the Fat

Literally strip the fat… get rid of it

There is a natural product (called Corn Fiber Plus) you can use to absorb the fat from the food you’re eating. It’s made from corn fiber and orange powder. They are chewable tablets which can be consumed after fatty or oily meals. The corn fiber binds with the oil and fat and it’s simply passed out of your body in your normal digestive process.

Of course it’s always better to watch what you’re eating and keep your consumption of bad fats to a minimum.

20 Fat Busting Tips – Tip 12 – Add Taste

It’s about flavor…

When I was a child I had trouble eating salad. I just found it boring. Of course there was nothing added to it to make it interesting.  It took me a long time to find simple ways to add interest and flavor without adding lots of calories (from salad dressing).  These are the ways I’ve found which work for me:-

  • Add grated carrot – carrots are very healthy and tastymandarin-segments
  • Add mandarin or orange segments – delicious and healthy
  • Add very finely chopped red onion – just 1 slice is enough to add flavor without tasting of raw onion. (I slice up an onion and freeze it – just remove a slice when I need it)
  • Use vine ripened tomatoes – they taste great
  • Add grated cheese – a small quantity will do
  • Add chopped parsley or coriander – or your favorite herb

20 Fat Busting Tips – Tip 11 – Green Tea

Green Tea is a true fat busting food…

Green tea is legendary for it’s multiple health benefits. The very good news is that weight loss is one of them. My husband has been drinking green tea for a few weeks now and his trousers are now loose and he’s looking for something to put an extra hole in his belt because he needs to be able to tighten it up.

Below is an unsolicited testimonial. I haven’t made it up or changed a word. I just don’t do that sort of thing. I hope it helps you.

“Hello there,
Very pleased with your product. My husband ordered the product while listening to talk radio. Frankly I was not a believer. The tea sat in the box for months. Our daughter was getting ready for an upcoming wedding in May. She had her 2nd baby which had turned 2 last December. She had packed on at least 20 extra pounds that she just could not get rid of. With the wedding just a few months away I gave her the tea to drink daily. Within just a few weeks you could see a noticeable weight loss. She had lost the 20 pounds without even trying . Her dress was designer made for her and we had to take in about 6 inches in the waist. After the alterations I told her not to drink any more tea until after the wedding to avoid additional alteration costs. Back on the tea… she is still loosing! So, I started drinking the tea. Yes, I started loosing weight. No fast heartbeat feeling, no jitters. Just gradual appetite changes. I don’t even crave the fried chicken, french fries or popcorn like before. I also started taking the WuYi burn tablets once per day. I have lost about 15 pounds and fit into the summer clothes I almost got rid of last year. I was a size 16 now the lower end of 14 and starting on my size 12’s
Try it … I’m a satisfied customer….. Also, Now my husband is drinking and he has been wearing suits that are in the back of the closet that he has not had on for 2-3 years. Thanks we are very satisfied!!!

E Davis”

Good Nutrition. Is It Enough?

Healthy eating is just the first step to a healthy life…

Even eating the right foods can be wrong if your portion sizes are too large, so that’s something to be aware about.

We are complicated beings with a complex digestive process. If you’ve ever suffered from acid reflux, bloating, indigestion, diarrhea, constipation or irritable bowel syndrome you’ll understand what can go wrong!

So Step 1 is having a good diet. Eating the right foods in the right portions.

Step 2 is your digestive system.

Step 3 is properly absorbing the nutrients from your food and getting them into your cells.

Step 4 is the elimination of waste in timely manner.

One group of almost unknown elements, digestive enzymes,  impacts every part of our digestive system. View the video below to see more about enzymes.

Superfoods for a Healthy Prostate

The prostate gland has a reputation as a health destroyer.

Hypertrophy of the prostate gland, which affects nearly every elderly male, strangles the urethra.  This troublesome condition makes urination difficult and increases the risk of bladder infections and kidney damage. However, there are many superfoods that may already be a part of your everyday diet that can help thwart the onset of prostate problems.

Tomatoes, watermelons, red grapefruit, papaya and red berries are all great sources of lycopene, a health-promoting plant pigment known for its cancer-battling ability.  It also promotes a strong immune system and helps support prostate health in men.  Though fresh tomatoes are always an excellent option, the lycopene in cooked tomatoes is actually absorbed more readily by the body.  It’s also your ally in the battle against heart disease.

Quercetin, a flavonoid that forms the backbone of many other flavonoids, may have positive effects in combating or helping to prevent many different types of cancer, including prostate. It also acts as an antihistamine and has anti-inflammatory properties, which may be helpful in relieving the pain of an inflamed prostate.

Foods rich in quercetin include apples, black and green tea (see the previous article on green tea extract helping reduce prostate cancer growth factors, HGF, VEGF and PSA) , onions, raspberries, red wine, red grapes, citrus fruits, broccoli and other leafy green vegetables, like kale and buc choy, and cherries. Quercetin can also be found in honey and sap, including the type from eucalyptus and tea tree flowers.

It’s important to remember to get a healthy balance of foods to keep your prostate healthy, including antioxidants, vitamin E from nuts and seeds, and drink plenty of pure water to help flush the bladder.  Try to avoid caffeine, alcohol, and spicy foods.  Keeping your weight in check will also help maintain a healthy prostate.

Green Tea May Slow Progression of Prostate Cancer

Study shows green tea “slows prostate cancer”…

Significant reduction in prostate cancer growth factors (HGF, VEGF and PSA) were shown in blood test results of 26 prostate cancer patients. The research was conducted at Louisiana State University Sciences Center in Shreveport by James A. Cardelli, Ph.D., (professor and director of basic and translational research in the Feist-Weiller Cancer Center, LSU Health Sciences Center-Shreveport) and associates and reported in the journal, Cancer Prevention Research.

  • HGF – Hepatocyte Growth Factor – fell 18.9%
  • VEGF – Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor – fell 9.9%
  • PSA – Prostate Specific Antigen – fell 10.4%

The patients each took 4 capsules of a green tea extract (active compound – EGCG {epigallocatechin gallate} – equal to drinking around 12 cups of naturally brewed green tea a day).

“There is reasonably good evidence that many cancers are preventable, and our studies using plant-derived substances support the idea that plant compounds found in a healthy diet can play a role in preventing cancer development and progression,” said Dr Cardelli.

Dr Cardelli also said “These studies are just the beginning and a lot of work remains to be done, however, we think that the use of tea polyphenols alone or in combination with other compounds currently used for cancer therapy should be explored as an approach to prevent cancer progression and recurrence”

green-teaGreen tea is considered a culinary herb and is the world’s second most popular drink. It has been consumed by Asian cultures for centuries and now has increasing popularity in all societies. Green tea is truely a Natural Superfood.

Make your own green tea blend.

Detoxify Your Food – Why & How?

Why use a food purifier?

chitosan-bottle

A food purifier like Ecomax Chitosan effectively removes bacteria, pesticides, fertilizers, chlorine, antibiotics and heavy metal residues from food.

Food derived from modern farming practices has hidden health hazards. There is no doubt, simply no question about this problem.

In our efforts to increase production, modern agricultural and grazing methods rely heavily on man-made chemically synthesized fertilizers, pesticides to ensure high crop yields and antibiotics are fed to livestock to prevent diseases and hormones accelerate growth.

Overuse of antibiotics is linked to the growing problems of antibiotic resistant bacteria in humans.

Artificial Hormones are implanted in livestock and dairy cattle to accelerate growth and increase milk production. Hormone residues can disrupt human hormonal balance causing developmental problems and can lead to the development of breast, prostate or colon cancer.

Unfortunately, this means the food that we eat every day is tainted with the residues of substances that can pose immeasurable risks and contribute to acute and chronic health conditions. They are also known to cause poisoning, infertility, birth defects in humans, damage to the nervous system and are potentially cancer causing.

Heavy Metal Residues are found in rice, seafood, meat, vegetables, and even the water we drink. Ingestion can cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. The chronic effects of heavy metal poisoning affect almost every organ and system in the body.

Artificial preservatives  and additives are added to foods like fish and rice to increase shelf-life and to improve taste and appearance. They have been known to induce allergic reactions and are suspected to cause cancer, asthma and birth defects.

So how do we prevent these unpleasant consequences?

Use Ecomax Chitosan Food Purifier to effectively remove the various types of contaminants found on the surface of and in food – it’s ideal for cleaning fruits, vegetables, poultry, meat, rice, grains, etc.

  • Cleans – Removes chemical fertilisers & pesticides, chlorine, heavy metal residues, antibiotics, artificial preservatives and additives
  • Preserves & Maintains Freshness – Inhibits bacterial growth and forms a protective layer on food surfaces (to prevent moisture evaporation and oxidation) for longer lasting freshness
  • Enhances Taste – Boosts food’s original flavor and reduces the fishy taste and smell of seafood

What is chitosan (pronounced kite-o-san)?

It is made from Chitosan, a 100% natural food fibre derived from the exoskeletons (shells) of deep sea Alaska King Crabs and Spiny Crabs in Japan.

Chitosan has been used for over 30 years by water purification plants as a process for detoxifying water.

Chitosan has a strongly positive polarity (electric charge), meaning that it acts like a powerful magnet to attract and bind to negatively charged hazardous substances. The resulting “bound” substance particles will be removed during washing and will not be absorbed by our bodies even if consumed.

20 Fat Busting Tips – Tip 10 – Eat An Avocado

Alone or in (home made) Guacamole…

Avocado’s are one of natures perfect gifts. While avocados are not exactly low calorie or low fat, they are packed with nutrients and the fats are good ones. That’s what we’re all about here – Nutrient Dense Superfoods.
avocados

  • Avocados contain oleic acid, a monounsaturated fat that may help to lower cholesterol.
  • Avocados are a good source of potassium, a mineral that helps regulate blood pressure.
  • One cup of avocado has 23% of the Daily Value for folate, a nutrient important for heart health.
  • They are packed with nutrients with nearly 20 vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients.
  • Avocados  a very concentrated dietary source of the carotenoid lutein; it also contains measurable amounts of related carotenoids (zeaxanthin, alpha-carotene and beta-carotene) plus significant quantities of tocopherols (vitamin E).
  • Don’t add dressings, just add a squeeze of lemon or lime juice and grind on some black pepper and salt.

Plus eating an avocado gives you a sense of fullness and satisfaction and it has a pleasurable “mouth feel”.

Making avocados into guacamole is a wonderful way to take advantage of the benefits of the other ingredients as well.  Always make it fresh. Never buy commercial (some commercial ones don’t actually contain real avocado)

20 Fat Busting Tips – Tip 8 – Snack Before Dinner

I really mean it…

Of course the snack has to be something with nutrition and fiber. Like an apple or another piece of fruit, or even a small palmful of nuts. Plus a drink of water.

The snack fills you up, so it takes the edge of your hunger and you will eat less for dinner. 346 people in Washington State lost an average 17 pounds each in 3 months with this tip.

20 Fat Busting Tips – Tip 9 – Add Flavor Not Calories

Skip the high calorie salad dressing…

The real reason we use salad dressing is that plain salads can actually be, sadly, a bit boring. Try including some tasty ingredients like:-

  • Salt and pepper
  • Grated carrot
  • Very finely chopped red onion (I slice a red onion then freeze the slices. This makes it very easy to keep and chop up a slice or two into a salad as required). It’s not overwhelming, it just adds another dimension of flavor.
  • Lemon, lime or orange juice squeezed over.
  • Some chilli flakes
  • Some grated cheese

20 Fat Busting Tips – Tip 7 – Are You Really Hungry?

Maybe you just want a fresh taste…

I’ve noticed that I sometimes eat something just because I want a different flavor in my mouth, not because I’m actually hungry.

So to overcome this I clean my teeth and drink some water. Easy! and calorie free!

20 Fat Busting Tips – Tip 6 – A Warning on White

Beware white foods…

White foods tend to be highly processed and are often high in fat, or at the very least low in nutrients. Examples are:-

  • White bread and other baked goods
  • White rice
  • Ice cream
  • Creamed products
  • Pasta
